Assistance to first time storage unit buyers:
With the popularity of the hit TV shows such as Storage Wars, Auction Hunters and Storage Hunters came a new type of buyer (a "newbie") who really thought they would hit it big by finding valuable items in storage lockers, like they see on TV. Although these high-value items do occasionally come up, most of the items found are normal, everyday items that usually require a patient longer term sales plan that is difficult for an inexperienced buyer/seller to profitably deal with.
We will be happy to assist in these situations by evaluating these items (usually as a complete unit) and giving a bid to buy - including hauling it off. As it is typical that only 48 hours is allowed to clear out a purchased storage unit, our experience and expertise will help ensure meeting the deadlines as well as getting a quick sales turn-around on your investment.
For those in the Houston area, we would be happy to trade with you! Items must be in excellent, like new, or new condition. Items requiring repair work or cleaning cannot be considered. Here are a few of the items that we would be interested in acquiring:
Essentially, we are fairly open to most legal trades with verifiable value. Drop us a note and let us know what you have, with as much description as you can and please include pictures of your item(s). Also let us know what items of interest you wish to trade for. We will respond promptly and see if we can make a deal.
In addition to selling and trading, a limited number of consignments are welcome at Ward's Storage Surplus. Typically, items are consigned on a generous 50/50 split. For multiple or higher dollar items, a fixed rate can be negotiated, based on the anticipated selling price. However, we cannot guarantee that your item will sell for the price you want, or will sell at all. After 30 days, you may choose to arrange to pick up your item or donate it. 50% of all money earned from donated items goes to a charitable organization.
For those wishing assistance with making charitable donations, we now take in donations for items that we feel confident that we can sell. The items must be in excellent, like new, or new condition and not require repairing or cleaning. Once we take in an item, we process it like all our other merchandise and list it here on the website. When it sells, we give 50% of all money to one of several charitable organizations.
For those in the Houston area if you need an item or items delivered rather than the usual pick-up arrangement we will require at least half of the payment in advance. The cost for delivery will be estimated as $1.00 per mile from zip code 77478, with a $25 minimum.
Please contact us if you have any issues with your item and we'll see what we can do to fix it. If we have made a mistake and sent you the wrong item, please let us know and we'll make it right as quickly as possible. Returns are generally not accepted on mail ordered items without special cause. In any case, absolutely no returns are permitted on items picked-up or delivered locally. Please ensure it's what you want before we close the transaction.
